Uche Fuels Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that all but guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the last 16, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This occasion provided a platform for several Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved no match even for a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Control Established from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Contest

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
